Administrative Staff


Mrs. Cheryl Cavanaugh

“Our work is our worship.”

Mrs. Cheryl Cavanaugh and her husband Jody are the founders of Liberty Christian Academy. She earned a Bachelors in English Language Arts from Meredith College, a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University, and she is currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Her love for children and quality education motivated her to open high quality child care centers. She owns the four New Beginnings Child Care Centers in Onslow County, serving over 600 children. Her desire to see children thrive educationally in a safe and nurturing environment led her to open Liberty Christian Academy. She serves at LCA on a daily basis as Head of School, ensuring the vision of the school is administered in all aspects. Mrs. Cavanaugh has served her community on local boards, and she is currently serving on a state level as a Board Member of the NC Partnership for Children. She is a published author of children’s books, and she enjoys reading, singing, and spending time with family. She is the wife of Jody Cavanaugh, and the mother of four wonderful children: Landon, Logan, Luke, and Lexi Cavanaugh.


Mr. Doug Wasden

Mr. Doug Wasden is married to Kim, and they have three daughters: Faith, Elly Grace, & Ava.  Mr. Wasden has a Masters in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelors in Social Science Education from Brewton-Parker College.  He has served in various roles over the last 25 years in education and ministry.


Mrs. Staci Yopp

“I have a heart for Christian education. I enjoy seeing students grow in their walk with Christ as well as in their minds academically.”

Mrs. Staci Yopp was born in Benton, IL, but has been a native of Eastern NC since the age of two. She is a graduate of Liberty University with a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision.  She received her undergraduate degree from Gardner-Webb University with a double major in Religious Education and Spanish.  Mrs. Yopp is a proud wife of her husband, Jody, who is the pastor of Kellum Baptist Church. She enjoys being the mother of her son, Camron and her daughter, Savannah. She thoroughly enjoys serving God in  her local church by singing on the praise team and teaching Sunday School. She loves to go camping with her family, spend time with friends, and enjoy a good cup of coffee!


Mr. Adam Grayson

“I truly enjoy helping young men and women develop both mentally and physically through athletics.”

Mr. Adam Grayson was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, but has lived the last seven years in Jacksonville, NC, and yes, he is an avid Steelers fan. “Go Steelers!” Mr. Grayson earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University and his Master of Science degree in Athletic Coaching Education from West Virginia University. He is the proud husband of his wife, Bonnie, and enjoys being the father of two sons and a daughter. Mr. Grayson has coached youth and high school athletics for over ten years and is very excited about building the athletic program at Liberty Christian Academy.

Mrs. Kelli Taylor

“I’ve been with LCA from the beginning, and I love to help with this ministry, and to be a part of what God’s doing.  There’s a fine line in ministry when it’s a business too, but God is in all of it……down to the pennies.  He cares about all avenues; people’s salvation to how we will pay for toilet paper.  God is in everything here at LCA, and I love that I get to be here to work for Him, His bigger picture for LCA, and the Richlands area.”

Mrs. Taylor and her husband, Dennis, live in Richlands and love their beautiful blended family: their oldest daughter, Ericka, son-n-love, Kirk and their newest grandson, Macon live in Cape Carteret. Their oldest son, Craven, his wife, Amber, and their beautifully active sons, Zach and Leyton live in Snow Hill. Second son, Billy Bodette, jr at ECU, called to preach. Grace freshman at Coastal, in hope to go into dental hygiene, and someday clean teeth in poor countries. Lastly, their youngest, Elli, a junior in high school, who sings for Jesus and hopes to start modeling for plus sizes so she can share with others how beauty is within first then on the outside.  Mrs. Taylor loves family. She considers them her gift, hobby, spare time, and her everything.  Mr. Taylor is God’s proof of beauty in the ashes of life.  Mrs. Taylor believes that God is faithful and always turns things that were planned to hurt us, into good and wonderful things for us who love Him!!!! She feels very blessed and loved by her God given life.


Mrs. Moné Cavanaugh

Mrs. Mone Cavanaugh is a native of Richlands.  She graduated from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with Emphasis in Criminal Justice.  She has worked with youth for over thirty years in areas such as Juvenile Court Counselor, AVID Tutor, Teen Living and substitute teacher, Sunday School teacher and Missions Groups leader in church.  She and her husband,  Mark, reside in Richlands and have two daughters, Carrie and Stacy.


Mrs. Justine Lucas

Mrs. Justine Lucas was born in New Orleans, LA. She is the wife of an amazing husband who is a wonderful father to their five year old son. Her boys are the light of her world.

Mr. Mark Stroupe

Mr. Mark Stroupe was born and raised in Murrells Inlet, SC. He received his BA in history from the University of South Carolina and his MDiv from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville Kentucky. Mr. Stroupe is excited to help the students of Liberty Christian Academy grow in their relationship with Christ and learn how to bring the lordship of Christ into every sphere of life.


Mr. Jeff Banks
Campus Pastor

Pastor Jeff Banks is married to the love of his life Becky Banks, and they have one daughter Cheyenne Banks who is currently a residential student at Liberty University.  Pastor Jeff has a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University and is currently pursuing his graduate degree at Liberty University Rawlings School of Divinity.  He is a retired Navy Corpsman having served 21 years and 7 days of active duty service.  Pastor Jeff is the pastor of Free Will Chapel PFWB in Richlands, NC and has recently partnered with Liberty Christian Academy as our Campus Pastor.   Together – let’s live Counter Culturally and change the world for Jesus!


Mrs. Pasty Sydes

Mrs. Patsy Sydes was born in San Diego, California, but has lived in the Richlands area for the past forty-six years.  She graduated from UNCW with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. Then, she continued her education at East Carolina university where she earned a degree in Special Education. Mrs. Sydes has been happily married for forty-five years and is the proud mom of two grown sons, a grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren, and recently became a great-grandmother. The Sydes family attends LCI church in Richlands.


Mrs. Carol Hall

Mrs. Carol Hall was born in Onslow County on Camp Lejeune. She earned her Bachelor of Education from University of North Carolina at
Wilmington.  She has been educating children for over thirty years. The Lord has blessed Mrs. Hall with a fabulous family – a husband of 29 years and two wonderful sons. The oldest, Johnathan, is 26 and recently celebrated his first wedding anniversary, and the youngest, Sam, who is 14 and attending 8th grade here at LCA. Mrs. Hall has served the Lord in her local church for many years as a Sunday School Teacher as well as its Sunday School Director.


Mrs. Samantha Vega

Samantha Vega was born in Staten Island, NY. She moved to Richlands, NC four years ago. She has a master’s degree in special education. She is the proud wife of her husband, George and proud mother of two boys Justin and Christian. Justin was diagnosed with autism at the age of 4, which encouraged her passion for special education. Mrs. Vega enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Marshburn

Mrs. Mary Ellen Marshburn was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Roll Tide!!!), moved to Greensboro, NC when she was two years old, and to Jacksonville fifteen years ago. Mrs. Marshburn loves Onslow County! She attended East Carolina University (GO PIRATES!!!) and  graduated with a degree in Child Development and Psychology. She has been in management and training in the social work and child care fields and has taught preschool. Mrs. Marshburn has been married to an Onslow County native for 15 years and they have four boys, with the new addition of a little girl! She loves working at LCA as she gets to watch Jesus become more and more real in the lives of students every day!


Mrs. Alice Simpson

“I may not directly teach the children, but all of them feel like they are mine.”

Ms. Alice Simpson was born in Onslow County. She has been a custodian for 23 years at Richlands Primary school. Mrs. Simpson is the proud mother of a son, daughter-in-law, and two gorgeous grandbabies. She likes to be used by God no matter what task is at hand, and any one who meets her, can easily see the love of Jesus radiate through her beautiful smile.


Mrs. Tina Houston

Mrs. Houston was born and raised in Richlands, North Carolina. She and her husband, Jessy, are the proud parents of two boys, Landon and Luke. She is excited to be a part of the LCA family and is looking forward to broadening her horizons in the future.

Mrs. Kimberly Costa
First Grade Teacher

Mrs. Kimberly Costa was born in Virginia, but considers herself a NC native.  She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from UNCW.  She has taught 11 years in both private and public schools. Mrs. Costa has the wonderful privilege of teaching in the same county in which she attended school and graduated from.  She is married to her husband of 14 years, Devin and they have 3 wonderful children, Mason who is 6 and twin girls, Brooklyn and Brinley who are 1.  The Costa family attends Free Will Chapel Church in Richlands.  In their free time, they love spending time with family and friends.


Mrs. Shawn Berkheiser

Mrs. Shawn Berkheiser was born in Muskegon, MI. She graduated from Coastal Community College and comes to LCA with sixteen years experience in preschool – first grade. Shawn and her hard-working husband have enjoyed twenty-five years of marriage and are the proud parents of a daughter and a son. Her patient and pleasant personality have helped her to create a very loving environment for students that not only has blessed LCA families the past four years, but is assuredly to also be a blessing this year.


Ms. Katie Phillips

“I have a heart for children and feel privileged that the Lord is using me to meet not only the academic needs, but most importantly the spiritual needs of His children.”

Ms. Katie Phillips was born in Jacksonville, NC. She graduated from Pensacola Christian College and has seven years of elementary teaching experience. Katie started teaching kids’ church when she was a teenager and has had the privilege of teaching on the child care, school and church levels ever since. Her son, Noah, is the biggest blessing and the best Christmas gift she has ever received!


Mrs. Jessica Wolf

Mrs. Wolf grew up in Mankato, Minnesota and has lived in many different places as a military wife before settling in Richlands in 2005. She graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Birth through Kindergarten Education and has worked as a substitute teacher. Mrs. Wolf has been married for twenty years to her husband Ken. They are blessed with two teenage sons – Kooper and Garrett. Spending time with her family is her favorite activity and her hobbies include gardening, cooking, and reading. Mrs. Wolf is excited to serve God as a teacher of young children.


Mrs. Reecia Phillips

Mrs. Reecia Phillips grew up in Kenansville, NC. She graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.  She has taught 1-2 grades for 17 years.  She has been married to her husband Alan for 31 years.  They have two grown children, Chad and Madison. Mrs. Phillips enjoys traveling,spending time with her family and friends, and going to the beach. Reading and learning really are the ticket to getting around the globe.

Dr. Julie Simmons
Third Grade Teacher

Dr. Julie Simmons was born in Berlin, Germany. She has a Doctorate degree in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. Her degree is in Professional Practices with an emphasis in the Multiply Intelligence Theory. This is Dr. Simmons 20th year teaching and she has taught kindergarten through Master’s level college classes. This will be her third year in third grade and she is loving it! The Lord gave Dr. Simmons the verse above over the summer after suddenly losing her husband two years ago. Unsure of what to do, the Lord has graciously taken care of every aspect of her life. Dr. Simmons says, “LCA is a fabulous place to work.” She is thankful how the Lord also made provisions for her daughter, Abi, to attend Liberty. She is in the ninth grade.


Mrs. Bonnie Grayson

Mrs. Bonnie Grayson was born in Homestead, FL. She graduated from Liberty University and has five years teaching experience in private education. Mrs. Grayson has been happily married for 22 years and is the proud mama of two sons and a daughter. She loves learning about Jesus and seeing how He works in her life everyday. A love for volleyball, Pinterest, and reading are also some things she enjoys.


Mrs. Katie Hearn

“I love teaching and seeing students learn. Christian education provides the incredible opportunity to incorporate the word of God into every lesson and I am very excited to be a part of that!”

Mrs. Katie Hearn grew up in South Carolina.  She graduated from UNCW with a BA in Elementary Education. She was a teacher assistant for 3 years and this will be her 3rd year as a lead teacher. Mrs. Hearn is happily married to her husband, Ryan and enjoys spending time with their two wonderful kids.


Mrs. Erin Vohringer

Erin was born in Dallas, Texas but considers Lynchburg, Virginia home after moving there when she was eleven. She has a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and a master’s degree in history. She is currently pursuing a masters in human resource management. Erin has previously had the opportunity to work with preschool and high school students. She enjoys working with all age groups to foster true enjoyment in education and reading. She loves serving alongside her husband, Ryan,
at LCA.

Mrs. Jessica Pierce

Ms. Jessica Pierce was born and raised in Richlands, NC. She graduated from University of Wilmington with a Bachelors of Elementary Education. Ms. Pierce has worked in the Onslow County School system as a substitute and a title I tutor. She loves singing in the choir and is excited to try to fulfill God’s will in her everyday walk.


Mrs. Alyssa Nelson
4th Grade

Mrs. Alyssa Nelson was born and raised in a small town outside of San Diego, CA. She graduated from Western Governors University with a Bachelors of Elementary Education. Mrs. Nelson moves around a lot as she is married to a United States Marine. She loves fitness, crafts, being outdoors and is happy to be teaching in a place where the love of Jesus shines so brightly!


Mrs. Angela Lippy

Mrs. Lippy believes that a Christ centered education will build deeper bonds between our children and God, making them stronger citizens as they grow with the Lord.Mrs. Lippy was born in Baltimore, MD.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Information Technology from Villa Julie College in 2000, and is currently attending Liberty University to obtain her Masters of Education.  The 2017/2018 school year will be her second-year teaching at LCA. Mrs. Lippy married her wonderful husband in 2003, and they have four beautiful and kind hearted children.  Her husband is currently serving in the Marine Corps.  The Lippy Family loves to serve God and spend their days outside.


Mrs. Brandi Workman

“I have a heart for showing young people how to have a personal relationship with Jesus and am blessed with the charge to tend to their minds and their hearts.”

Mrs. Workman was born in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from UNCW with an Elementary Education Degree and has been educating children for approximately ten years now and has an intense desire to see children enjoy learning.  She is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Education – Student Services from Liberty University. She is married to a retired U.S. Marine, has four children ages 23, 20, 15, and 7, and has made Jacksonville her home for the last nine years. Mrs. Workman has been fortunate enough to travel to and live in many places.  It was this travel that often took her to Yosemite National Park where, many years ago, she developed a renewed relationship with God and a longing to know and serve Him more which continues to this day.  Mrs. Workman’s goal is to create a learning environment that empowers students to love learning, invest in their education and to be accountable to themselves, their families, and to God.  Everyday, she looks forward to making her class a place where students can share, learn, have fun, and develop into thinkers and doers for Christ.


Mrs. Bailey Cronan

Mrs. Bailey Cronan grew up in the small town of Holly Springs, MS. She is happily married to her husband, Johnathon. They just moved to Camp Lejeune, NC in May 2017. She attended college at Freed Hardeman University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. Some of Mrs. Cronan’s favorite things include singing, great food, and her friends. She believes that smiling and laughter are an important part of life, and she is excited to see what God will do in her classroom this year.

Mrs. Jemmeta Nesbeth

Mrs. Jammeta Nesbeth was born in Jamaica, but has adopted North Carolina as home for the past 10 years. She is a passionate educator with twenty nine years of teaching experience. Mrs. Nesbeth graduated from Nova South eastern University Florida with a Masters of Art Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle School Curriculum from Western Carolina University, North Carolina and earned a diploma in Teacher Education from Bethlehem Teachers’ College, Jamaica. She plans to pursue a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction in spring of 2017 with Liberty University, Virginia. Mrs. Nesbeth has been married to the love of her life, Edward for the past twenty two years . They have been blessed with two wonderful sons Edward Nesbeth (Ejay) and Daniel Nesbeth. Mrs. Nesbeth loves being in the awesome presence of the Lord and enjoys praise and worship. She also serves as a member of the Praise and worship team at her church. She loves children and takes pleasure in nurturing and fostering spiritual, as well as academic, growth in each of them. She is guided by the philosophy that each child is unique and can learn when provided with positive learning experiences.


Mrs.  Chelsea Byrd

Mrs. Chelsea Byrd grew up in Sneads Ferry, NC with her mother and two sisters. She graduated from UNCW with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in elementary education and recently added Secondary English to her licensure. She is married to the love of her life, Ryan, and they have two sweet little boys. Emerson was born in April of this year and Hudson turns three in December. They live in Pink Hill and enjoy going to the beach and spending time with family. Mrs. Byrd self published a women’s devotional recently. She  enjoys pouring her heart into young people and watching them learn and grow. She strives to push students to be all God made them to be and nothing less.


Mr. Ryan Vohringer

Mr. Vohringer was born in Orlando, Florida and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina when he was ten years old. While he was born in Florida, he considers himself a North Carolinian and is happy to be residing in Jacksonville with his wife Erin. He received both a B.S. in History and a M.A. in History from Liberty University. The study of history goes much further than remembering names and dates, and can provide students with skills they can apply beyond the classroom. He hopes to use the study of history as a means to further develop his students’ writing, critical thinking, and reading comprehension. Ultimately, history offers us a chance to look back and witness how God is in control of everything, and we should put our faith in Him.


Mrs. Stephanie Detoro

Mrs. Stephanie Detoro was born in Charlotte, NC and attended college at North Carolina State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences.  She, along with her husband Brian and their three children Derick, 17, Caroline, 16 and Abygaiel, 13, live in Swansboro, NC. The Detoro family enjoy serving in their local church, and spending time on the beach when they are not at a track event, on the softball field or at a dance function. Mrs. Detoro is excited to explore God’s wonderful creation with her students and help them to grow in their personal relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Dina Martin

Mrs. Dina Martin was born in Norfolk, VA. She is a graduate of Appalachian State and has a Masters of Divinity from South Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. She has completed her MAT in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Social Sciences through Liberty University. Mrs. Martin is not only delighted to be the wife of her husband, Kevin, but is also very proud to be the mother of a United States Marine. Along with her son, she is overjoyed to have a beautiful daughter-in-law and three wonderful grandchildren. She is excited about what God is going to do in her classes this year.


Mrs. Kim Wasden

Mrs. Kim Wasden was born and raised in Findley Lake, NY.  She received her B.S. in Art Education at Messiah College in Grantham, PA. Kim moved to Augusta, GA in 2001 where she met and married her husband Doug.   They have resided in Georgia for the past 14 years and have three girls; Faith, Elly Grace, and Ava. Kim has taught art, home schooled her girls for a few years, and started a business called Paint With Praise.  Kim also loves to travel, read, and spend time outside.


Mrs. Jennifer Miller

Mrs. Jennifer Miller was born in Chinquapin, NC. She graduated from East Carolina University and is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts degree in Teaching at Liberty University. Her husband, Mitchell, and their three children are the light of her life. The Miller family attends Grace Covenant Church in Beulaville, NC, where she helps teach the Tribe Kids Junior program. Mrs. Miller enjoys being with her family, loving Jesus, and watching the Carolina Panthers.


Ms. Brandi Beard

Ms. Brandi Beard was born in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) with a Bachelors of Arts in Middle Childhood Education. She loves Jesus, her family/friends, and the ocean!


Mrs. Annette Cavanaugh

Annette Cavanaugh, “Grandma”, and her husband, Gene Cavanaugh, live in Richlands, NC. She was born and raised in Beulaville, NC, and she has two sons, Mark and Jody, and one daughter, Gina. She has 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She has a Master’s degree in Business Education from East Carolina University. She studied at a Bible College. She taught for 21 years in the public school system, and then she was the principal at a private Christian school. She has been a teacher at LCA for two years, and she serves as the school grandma. She loves to study the Bible and go on cruises with her husband. One of her hobbies is studying the American Presidents.


Mrs. Valerie Futrell
Biology, Agriculture

Mrs Valerie Futrell was born in Duplin County where she attending East Duplin High School. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science and a Bachelors of Science in Poultry Science. She taught Agriculture in the Onslow County School system before following her true calling as a teacher of God’s word. Mrs. Futrell is a mother of two beautiful children,Will and Amelia Jo (AJ), and is married to her husband Neal, who is the Associate Pastor of their church. She is very excited to be able to combine her passion for education with her love for the Lord. Her goal is to provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere for learning and growing through Jesus Christ!


Mr. William Gibbons

Mr. Bill Gibbons was born in Albany, NY and grew up near Valley Forge, PA. He moved to Jacksonville, NC in 2016 for a teaching position in the Onslow County system, but now God has led him to pursue his true passion of Christian ministry. Mr. Gibbons earned a BS and MS in meteorology from Penn State University (GO LIONS!!!). He also did Master of Divinity studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mr. Gibbons has had a varied career — Air Force meteorologist, Baptist pastor, environmental consultant, and teacher. He has been married to his wife, Melene, for over 30 years and has a step-daughter, Gena. Mr. Gibbons loves sports, watching movies, and spending time with his wife. He looks forward to sharing his life experiences with his students and guiding them to experience abundant life in Jesus Christ.

Mrs. April Courie

Mrs. April Courie was born in Tacoma, WA. Her most recent achievement was completing a preschool certification through Liberty University. She has over 20 years of experience teaching in the health and fitness industry and has worked with children for nearly 30 years. This career path paired nicely with her husband’s career. Married for 17 years to a Marine has been an adventure. Although he retired two years ago, their three daughters keep them on the move with sports, dance and daily excitement. They are a Christ centered family and they love spending time together, enjoying the beauty of the Crystal Coast they now call home.


Mr. Albert Jurina

Al Jurina grew up in New Castle, Pennsylvania where he came to know Christ at the age of 15. He attended Geneva College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Secondary Education. After teaching for 5 years in both public and private Christian schools, he went back to school to earn his second degree, a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Software Development from Stevenson University. After a brief career as a software developer, Al returned to his first calling of Christian education as an IT Director and Computer teacher for Hershey Christian School in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where he has taught for over 11 years. In addition to computers, Al and his wife Megan run a photography business, Jurina Photography. He, his wife and three children are excited to join and serve the LCA community.


Mr. Fletcher Stubbs

“Playing an instrument is a talent we need to develop because it is a gift from God and should be used for his glory.”

Mr. Fletcher Stubbs is originally from Bennettsville, SC and has retired from North Carolina Public Schools with over 30 years as a band director.  Since retirement he has continued teaching in private schools in Onslow County.  He is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Music Education and a Masters of Music degrees.  He is a saxophone soloist and has performed in churches throughout the southeast.  He is married to Leah Stubbs and they have one daughter and three grandsons who live in Virginia.  Mr. Stubbs is a model railroader and is building an HO scale model of the railroad in his hometown.


Mrs. Leah Stubbs

Mrs. Stubbs was born in Ahoskie, North Carolina and graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree, majoring in piano and minoring in voice.  She taught AIG (Gifted Education) in Hyde County Schools, chorus at Trexler Middle School and chorus and drama at Richlands High School for 24 years.  Mrs. Stubbs also served as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in Richlands for 37 ½ years.  She and her husband is Fletcher Stubbs, Band Director at LCA, have one daughter, Nicole, a Kindergarten teacher, a son-in-law, Zach, who serves in the U.S. Navy, and three wonderful grandsons, Nathan, Logan, and Jeremiah.  Mrs. Stubbs is excited to be joining the staff at Liberty Christian Academy this year.


Mrs. Gina Summers
Art and Drama Teacher

Mrs. Gina Summers was born in Jacksonville, NC. She graduated from United Christian Bible College and taught in the Onslow Country School System for eight years. Mrs. Summers also taught at Jerusalem English Academy in Israel for 2 years. With more than twenty five years of Drama experience, she is a true asset to the drama program. Her joy is her family, singing on the praise team at her church and pursuing whatever the Lord has in store. Married and blessed with one daughter, who was one of the first graduates of Liberty Christian Academy. Mrs. Summers believes in the importance of instilling, inspiring, and creating a passion within each child to learn. She also desires for students to be the best they can be, and loves that her job allows her to help them recognize their talents and gifts.


Mrs. Jessica Wheeler
Spanish Teacher

Mrs. Jessica Wheeler was born in Olympia, WA. She graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville, and has taught Spanish to students K-12 for two years. Her life is full of the love from her husband, Charles, and their three beautiful children, Carol, Mary, and Thomas.


Mrs. Ginnie Postlethwaite

Mrs. Ginnie Postlethwaite was born in Charlotte, NC. She graduated from Chaminade University of Hawaii and has sixteen years of teaching experience. She is currently enrolled in classes at UNCW. Go Seahawks! Her husband, two sons, and her daughter-in-law are her pride and joy. Her teaching philosophy is based on a quote from Henry Wong, “It takes just as much energy to achieve positive results as it does to achieve negative results. So why waste your energy on failing when that same amount of energy can help you and your students succeed?” She thoroughly enjoys guiding her students in a positive and loving environment.
